Among the pieces of information to leave behind for your descendants, have you left a list of the addresses/locations where you have lived and when you lived there? That is something some of us wish our ancestors did and it might not be bad for us to do it ourselves.
I have done this for myself and my husband and for my parents since their marriage!
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago I began a journal of my memories which was prompted by genealogist Lorine McGinnis Shulze of the Olive Tree Genealogy website. Each week a topic was suggested and we would write about our memories. Sometimes the result would be only a small paragraph or a couple of comments and other times it might take several pages to relate the memory. One of the topics was "Places I have lived". As I wrote about the homes, towns, and cities, I went through my photos for pictures of the houses and included those in the journal which is now large enough to consider having bound for my children and grand children. It includes memories of all my grandparents, where they lived and worked, and one great grandmother who died the year I was five. I recommend Lorine's prompts which can be found here. http://olivetreegenealogy.blogspot.ca/p/sharing-memories.html
ReplyDeleteI need to get them from when I was under 3.
ReplyDeleteI would also include info about previous marriages and divorces. I wasn't married in my home town and lived many states away when I was divorced. Sharon
