Whenever I'm stuck on virtually any genealogical problem, I make a chart or a table. It forces me to sort out the key pieces of information that are confusing me and allows me to sort the information in a variety of ways. Here's an example of a chart I used while
trying to find a guy in the 1850 census and
one of when my ancestors were eligible to vote.
