Giving Credit

Do you give credit to others who have helped you with your research--perhaps someone shared information with you, gave you valuable research suggestions, or shared family ephemera with you? It's the right thing to do and it makes these individuals more likely to help or share with you in the future.

  1. I always give credit to people that helped me with my genealogy research and share my information with them.

  2. I recently found a tree that has ALL my documentation on it with that person as the original owner. That person also used the "add this person to my tree" button. Either that or s/he chooses the same years to note and writes exactly the same words in the same order as I did. I wonder what she will tell anyone who asks for clarification or details about my photos and documents. If they're hers she'd know. Maybe she'll just make something up. Or not answer at all. My queries have all gone unanswered.

Giving credit is part of the fun! I've had so much help from others, I like to have my Happy Dance Party with them. My family wishes I would shut up but my genealogy buddies celebrate with me.
