Guardianships With Probates?

This file is in the probate records for Middlesex County, Massachusetts. It's actually a file with guardianship information on Jonathan Puffer and his siblings (hence the &al reference). Sometimes guardianships are filed in a separate series of record and sometimes they are grouped with probates for deceased people.

  1. In Mississippi, guardianships and divorces are recorded along with probate records such as wills and estate settlements.

  2. YES, I found an apprenticeship for my Samuel Brooks ancestor of South Carolina in deed book record which seemed very strange to me at the time. Have others found such records among deeds as I did?

    1. That's not as unusual as you might think, particularly in those locations where there wasn't a separate record book for apprenticeships.

But it's still a really good find!
