Church Records Are Not Just Vitals

There may be more to the records of the church your ancestor attended than records of baptisms, marriages, and funerals. Church membership rolls, confirmation records, communion records, and other materials may help put your ancestor in a location, provide evidence of an age, or attach him to others in his extended kin and social network.

  1. I found a write up on my gg grandfather when he had to appear before the church fathers to be allowed back in after they tossed him for drunkenness and profanity. This was in the 1860's What a hoot.

  2. In the Roman Catholic Church we have several sacraments, received at different ages, that would be documented in our churches.
