Have you searched for voter's registration records on your ancestor? They may not provide extensive family details, but they may give residence and will indicate citizenship status.
I searched the poll tax records for 1920 and found my grandmother's record. She voted in the first presidential election in 1920, died before the next election, but left a legacy for her daughter/granddaughters/etc that is still carried on today.
