Get Off Ancestry.com For Two Days

Is there just one site that you're using for your research? Remember that not one site has everything. Consider avoiding using that site for two days and either doing some onsite research or looking at other websites. You might be surprised at what you find.

  1. I have used Familysearch.org a lot lately. They have many records that Ancestry does not have. Also for Michigan researchers SeekingMichigan.org is a great site. They have been helpful. General web searches of family names have turned up detailed and large family trees by other family members posted on different web sites. State archives pages may have links to other local information and cemetery transcriptions as well. Good advice.

  2. Excellent advice. I have never regretted that I waited a year after starting genealogy research to subscribe to Ancestry.
